Chapter 7 is a form of bankruptcy provided to consumers under Federal law that allows releif from the burden of unsecured debts. Commonly referred to as a liquidation bankruptcy, Chapter 7 requires an individual to turn over all non-exempt assets to his/her bankruptcy trustee to be liquidated, with the proceeds of the liquidation going to pay some or all of the individual's unsecured debts. It is our goal at Baker & Associates to allow our clients to keep as many of their assets as possible by utilizing either Federal or State of Texas exemptions.
