Reese W. Baker
Reese W. Baker is a partner in the firm of Baker & Associates in Houston, Texas. The firm specializes in bankruptcy matters for both consumer and business cases. Mr. Baker is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Business Bankruptcy Law and he is also board certified by the American Board of Certification in Business Bankruptcy Law.
Mr. Baker has participated in numerous national bankruptcies. He has also served as in-house counsel for Summa Corporation in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Baker has acted as attorney in charge for debtors and lenders, has represented trustees, creditors committees and retiree committees, and been actively involved in successful reorganizations around the country.
Mr. Baker is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has been a contributing writer for the yearly edition of the Bankruptcy Law Update published by Aspen Law since 1998. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit; U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas in 1984.
Mr. Baker was previously a partner in the law firm of Broocks, Baker & Lange, LLP in Houston. Before working with Broocks, Baker & Lange, he was an associate at Andrews & Kurth, LLP. He received his B.S. degree from Louisiana State University and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University. He was an editor of the Southwestern Law Journal in 1978-1979. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on March 4, 1954; admitted to the Bar in 1979 in Texas.
Mr. Baker is currently a member of the board of directors of Millennium Relief and Development Services, Inc., an international relief organization with headquarters in Houston and KSBJ, a non-profit radio station in Houston. He is a member of Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Houston and on the Permanent Judicial Commission of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Patrick J. Gilpin, Jr.
Patrick J. Gilpin, Jr. has been an associate attorney at Baker & Associates since 2007. Mr. Gilpin has handled bankruptcy and adversary cases, focusing on prosecuting car lenders for violation of bankruptcy, state, and federal laws.
Mr. Gilpin was born and raised in Houston, Texas just outside the Heights. After graduating from St. Pius X High School, he received his B.S. degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Gilpin earned his J.D. from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, graduating summa cum lade.
Karen Rose is an associate in the law firm of Baker & Associates. She lives in Bryan, Texas and works in our Bryan/College Station office. Before joining Baker & Associates, Ms. Rose was an associate at Thompson & Knight, LLP. Ms. Rose received her law degree, with honors, from the University of Texas in Austin and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2008.
